Flair |fler| 1. A special or instinctive aptitude or ability for doing something well.

I was lucky enough to have worked with this lovely lady at one point, and let me just say, her work reflects her amazing, bubbly, charismatic personality. Aside from her brilliant flair, how fantastic is her surname?! You won't want to miss out on this Bird!

P.S. It's wedding bell season folks, and this chick has a lot of ideas up her sleeve!

In a few sentences describe yourself and what you do.

I have a huge passion for beautifully designed printed stationery, books, and magazines. As a result, I now run my own small business called Lovebird that specializes in bespoke wedding stationery.

How did you first get into design & what's your favorite part about it?

Design was my strongest point at school, and I always knew it's what I wanted to do as a career. I love the process of working closely with my clients - to designing stationery that makes them say WOW and exceeding their expectations. It's so rewarding to get great feedback and I really enjoy the whole process.

Do you have any creative heroes that you admire & have inspired you? Who & How?

I have recently been interning at a letterpress studio in Sydney, and I'm so inspired by the couple who run it. They set up their own business two years ago, and have grown so much in such a short amount of time. I'm motivated by their passion and enthusiasm to grow as a business and come up with new, fresh, and exciting ideas; I strive to be as successful as they are. I also follow a lot of creative pages on Instagram, and am influenced by a few calligraphy geniuses. It's something I really want to learn and practice within my work.

What ignited you to start Lovebird Bespoke Stationery?

It all started when a friend asked me to design her wedding invitations - I was delighted and loved every second! Then it became word of mouth. One day something clicked and realized I wanted to design wedding stationery for a living, so that's how Lovebird came around.

What is your favorite piece of work you have done and why?

Ooh well... I have a few favourites, but if I had to choose one I'd go with the monopoly themed invitations. They have attracted the most amount of interest, and I've had great feedback from them. I think the handmade money print envelopes really help set them apart and give them that WOW factor when landing on guests' doormats. They're something a bit different which I love.

Since starting your design stationery business, do you have any advice for those wanting to start their own business?

I would say just go for it! Work hard and in return do what you love. I believe the main focus to being successful is believing in yourself. I read a quote once that stuck with me, 'successful people never worry about what others are doing' - that's the key!

As a travel junkie myself, if you could live and work anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Well I'm currently doing exactly that! I traveled from my home in England to live and work in Australia. After 8 months of being here it's nearly time for me to go home, but I've had the most amazing experiences and wouldn't change it for the world. It's certainly made me want to travel more. I would love to live and work in New York one day for a little while, but we'll see.

Early bird or night owl?

Night owl for sure! I get up early most days, but I'm more creative in the evenings. There's been many late nights getting jobs finished!
